The University Teaching Hospital -UTH- has been split into 5 sub-hospitals, in an effort to improve efficiency in service delivery.
The 5 sub-hospitals are the Children’s section, Mother and New Born Babies, Adult, Eye and cancer Diseases.
Director of Health Promotion and Social Determinants in the Ministry of Health, Kennedy Malama has announced the development in Lusaka today.
Dr Malama has explained that all the sub-hospitals will be headed by specialised personnel, adding the human resource issue is still being addressed.
He has reiterated that government wants to address challenges, such as water reticulation, and others at the country’s biggest referral health institution.
Meanwhile, Dr Malama says the Ministry of Health is targeting to spray at least 9 point 7 million structures countrywide, during the 2016-2017 In-Door Residue Spraying exercise.
